Terms of Use
Last updated September 2, 2026
These Terms of Use describe how the Math Assessment Platform (MAP) may be used. MAP is the assessment engine in the flippedmath.com ecosystem. The site is in early testing while remaining features are finished.
These terms are a public acceptable-use notice—not a substitute for a signed Data Privacy Agreement (DPA). If your LEA and MAP execute a DPA (including state NDPA templates), that DPA controls treatment of covered student or LEA data for that relationship—even where it differs from this page or other public MAP help articles.
How MAP handles school and student information: Privacy Notice. A longer Q&A companion: Using MAP: accounts, acceptable use, and school agreements.
The service
MAP is for instructional assessment: authoring, delivering, and grading math assessments, plus related course operations (rosters, invites, gradebooks, and support).
Accounts
- Accounts are personal — do not share passwords or sell, rent, or transfer access to others
- Teachers register for a Teacher account (subject to site availability; classroom teaching uses an active Teacher license for the course catalog)
- Students and parents join by invitation from a teacher or authorized course manager—not by open public signup for those roles
- Email verification is required before an account is fully activated when MAP asks for a verified address
- Signing in on a new device or browser ends the previous session for that account
Acceptable use
- Use MAP only for legitimate classroom or school operations
- Do not scrape, harvest, or bulk-export other users’ data outside the tools MAP provides for your role
- Do not use MAP to send spam, malware, or content unrelated to instructional use
- Do not attempt to disrupt the service, bypass access controls, or impersonate another user
Student data and advertising
- MAP uses account and course data to run the instructional service (delivery, grading, notifications, support)
- MAP does not sell student personal information for marketing lists
- MAP does not use student data for targeted advertising inside the product
Content you create
Teachers keep instructional ownership of problems and assessments they author, subject to sharing they choose in Explorer (including the Public Library). Student answers and grades remain school-controlled education records used to operate the service. MAP does not claim student work for advertising or resale.
Teacher and student licenses
Schools purchase Teacher packages and student licenses for a course catalog. Teachers create classrooms from templates when they hold an active Teacher license. Inviting a student uses an unused student license for that catalog. Course groups control which shared library material they can use. Paid features are for MAP classroom capacity, not a marketplace of student data. Details are in product Q&A (Teacher and student licenses).
When a district has a signed DPA
Send DPA / NDPA packets through Contact Us. Include your district, state, and the form your procurement team uses. Until a DPA is signed, this page and the Privacy Notice are the public notices MAP offers for early access.
Records, offboarding, and corrections
- To request an export of classroom grades and student work, or optional deletion when a teacher or school leaves MAP, follow District data requests and teacher offboarding
- Parents who need access to grades should use the school-issued parent invite for that course—not a shared student password
- Parents or students who contact MAP directly about education records are directed to their school; MAP responds to written LEA requests through support
Early access and availability
MAP is provided for early testing while remaining features are finished. The service may change, and occasional interruption is possible. Nothing on this page is a warranty of uninterrupted service, a FERPA “certification,” or a promise that MAP meets every district’s procurement packet without a reviewed DPA.
Changes
MAP may update these terms as the product matures. Material changes that affect school agreements are handled with districts that have an active DPA process underway. The date at the top of this page is the last update.
